Michael Kvium

(Director)

Visual artist Michael Kvium, born 1955 in Horsens, Denmark and educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Art, 1979-1985, is the originator and initiator of ’The Wake’ project together with visual artist Christian Lemmerz. Since 1982, Kvium & Lemmerz, alone and together, have been working with performances, films, cartoon strips and theatre. Together with the performance group ‘Værst’ (“Worst”) they made the short film ’Grød’ (”Porridge”) in 1986 and in 1994 they made the feature film ’Voodoo Europa’ (Jury Special Award Winner at the San Francisco Film Festival in 1995). For many years, ’Finnegans Wake’ has been a pivotal point for both artists. In 1996, they presented the performance ’Failagain Wake’ at the art museum ‘Arken’. In 1998, Kvium made the scenography for ’The Black Rider’ at the Betty Nansen Theatre.
